The Houstonian Club started selling memberships in 1978, and when it opened in January 1980, a health club in a 125,000 square foot building (now 185,000 sq. ft.) was decidedly not commonplace. (In fact, the original Club operators had the Club designed so that it could be converted to a two-story office building, if the new mega-health club concept failed.) From the very beginning, The Houstonian Club exhibited innovation. In over 40 years, The Houstonian has remained committed to progress and just recently completed a 65 million dollar renovation across the campus.
Renovation
The Houstonian Club's renovation, completed in late 2022, touched approximately 70% of The Houstonian Club. This renovation opened the overall layout of the club and created areas for improved networking, socializing between Members. Improvements include:- Newly constructed atrium with staircase leading to a new indoor turfed performance zone (Next Level).
- Refreshed Lobby, Rotunda and Welcome Desk with additional get-together areas.
- Refuel café proudly serving Starbucks and to-go options with additional seating for socializing and working.
- The Kitchen: Indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar overlooking the pools with separate adult and family-friendly dining.
- The Shop: New shopping experience in a convenient location.
- Move and Strong: Two new, multipurpose group exercise studios for dance, strength, mat Pilates, cardio and other classes.
- Breathe: Expansive new yoga studio with built-in storage and cork floors.
- Refine: Private yoga studio with stall bars, a yoga wall and aerial silks.
- Synergy: New studio for small group Pilates Reformer/VersaClimber classes.
- New indoor basketball court for free play, lessons and group exercise classes.
- New Resident Fitness Center (exclusive for our Resident Members only).
- Surge: New cycle studio with state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and environment.
- Bungalow and Houstonian Hideout: Renovated childcare with dual check-in and designated stroller parking.
- The Covery: New recovery and wellness services including cryotherapy, red light therapy, IV therapy, spray tanning and more.
- Monarch, Lantana & Bluebonnet: Two new meeting rooms and a card room.
