History Is Sweet

History Is Sweet
President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush established their residence at The Houstonian in the 1980s, living first at The Manor House estate before relocating to the hotel.

According to her press secretary Anna Perez, Mrs. Bush got this recipe from one of her longtime friends named Patsy Caulkins. We asked Mrs. Bush for her permission to make these cookies and she graciously said "I would be honored."

Respected and loved for her wisdom and witticism, she was quoted as saying, "Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people - your family, friends, and coworkers, and even strangers you meet along the way."

Our Pastry Shop lovingly makes Barbara Bush's Chocolate Chip Cookies in-house, and they can be requested for special events, weddings, and celebrations.
We hope you will treat someone you love sweetly today with this recipe!
