Garden Strolls & Sweet Moments: A Romantic Houston Date Idea
The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa • Jul 15, 2026
Bayou Bend is the Museum of Fine Arts museum for American decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg (1882–1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furniture, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is located about 2.3 miles from The Houstonian Hotel on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston's historic River Oaks neighborhood.
A Storybook Setting
Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens offers an idyllic setting right in the heart of Houston. Nestled in River Oaks, its beautifully maintained gardens feature winding woodland paths, elegant fountains, vibrant seasonal blooms, and manicured hedges that feel worlds away from the city. For couples, it's the perfect place to slow down, connect, and enjoy quiet moments together. During the holidays, The Houstonian creates a whimsical and elegant gingerbread replica of the famous Bayou Bend Mansion in the Great Room Lobby of the hotel!
When to Go
Plan your visit in the late afternoon or early evening when temperatures are more comfortable and golden sunlight filters through the trees. On a cool summer night, the gardens are especially beautiful, with colorful blooms and winding paths creating an ideal backdrop for a romantic stroll.
